During the full-service period when the hut manager is present: there is an area available offering the option to prepare your own meals. During the self-service period when the hut manager is absent, the hut is open and offers: a dormitory, covers, means for heating, a stove and dishes. The hut is managed in a sustainable manner (supplies transported via pack donkey or on foot, use of ecologically-friendly cleaning products, organic food) and participates in building awareness with the general public regarding sustainable development and environmental conservation. Bivouac: set the tent for 5€ (with access to kitchen and dishes).
Tips
Surrounding summits: Dôme de Chasseforêt (3586m) in 3hrs 30min - Dôme des Sonnailles (3361m) in 2hrs 30min. Day hikes: starting in Pralognan from Prioux (2hrs 30 min, easy) or the Pas de l'âne (3hrs 30min). Starting from the hamlet of Les Fontanettes via the Grand Marchet (4hrs 30min). 2 beautiful lakes, ruins of from an old hut, and 360° views make this particular trail well worth the effort. Circumnavigating the Vanoise Glaciers (a 6-day thru-hike variation).
Covid-19 special services
Reservations are required for all overnight stays at the hut (dormitory-style sleeping conditions), and when sleeping in a tent next to the hut is an option. Make your reservation online! To stay at the hut, you need to sign the “Charte du Randonneur” / “Hiker’s Responsibility Code” and provide your contact information for Covid tracing in the event someone staying at the hut ends up testing positive (everything is explained in detail when you make an online reservation). Remember to bring your own hygiene supplies (mask, hand sanitizer). This summer, we unfortunately will not be able to provide comforters, blankets, or pillows… Remember to bring your sleeping bag! For picnics to go, show your commitment to the environment and to reducing waste by bringing your own reusable water bottle.
