The Derby du Vénéon was born out of a passion for mountain sports and the Vénéon river. After countless descents on this alpine torrent, we decided that this river deserved its own annual event. Inspired by the ski Derbys, and in particular the one in nearby La Grave, we thought that we could create a unique event based on the same principles, i.e. racing down an entire mountain slope with only a stopwatch as judge, applied to kayak navigation.
***Petit Derby: open to experienced kayakers in class III and aged at least 16 years. The team of 3 paddlers will start the timer below the straight line to reach the Stages. Optional: Slalom on the "S" at Les Etages
***Grand Derby: 2 events open to a team of 3 experienced kayakers in class IV and above, aged 18 years or over. Event 1: The slalom on the "S aux Etages Event 2: The race starts at Les Etages and goes to the Rajat bridge in Champhorent, class IV and V. This course combines all the facets of high river navigation: difficult class IV/V rapids, compulsory lines, a portage and a V rapid where you have to pass one by one.
Evening from 7pm onwards at the Bérarde campsite with an aperitif and then from 9pm onwards a concert with the artists Black Dogs, Rain Chek and the Dj. Meals possible on the spot and in the village.
