Description

The plateau itself is wonderful, with a huge variety of alpine flowers in
June and July, numerous colonies of marmots near the hut, grasshoppers, butterflies and dragonflies near the lakes, as well as larks, a golden eagle and around sixty vultures recently arrived from the south. Emparis has always been a renowned pasture: the path is a great way of seeing the shepherds, their dogs and thousands of sheep.
Hikers can also start from Besse-en-Oisans or Le Chazelet, following in both cases the GR54 path.
Equipment for watching the wildlife is available.
