Saturday, 18 March, 2023, La Plagne Montchavin-Les Coches will be holding the 6th edition of its “Les Diables Bleus” ski touring race (Ussel / Garcia challenge). The competition will take place on the former training course of the 7th battalion of Chasseurs Alpins (the Alpine regiment, known as the "diables bleus", the "Blue Devils").
Three races:
- The solo race (min. age 16 yrs) on a 6,300km course (1000 m elev. gain) starting from Les Coches (altitude 1440 m), climbing to the highest point (altitude 2340 m) and coming back down partly off piste to Les Coches Price: 15€/person
- 2-person team race (min. age 16 yrs) on a 6,300km course (1000 m elev. gain) starting from Les Coches (altitude 1440 m), climbing to the highest point (altitude 2340 m) and coming back down partly off piste to Les Coches. Please note: both competitors must cross the finish line together. Price: 20€/team
Short solo race (min. age 13 yrs) of 4km (450 m elev. gain), starting from Les Coches (altitude 1440 m), climbing to the high point at Plan Bois (altitude 1820 m) and coming back down on Mont-Blanc run (blue run) to Les Coches. Price: 15€/person
Bibs given out from 7.30am Mass start at 9 am. Start of the Discovery race immediately afterwards Registration with limited number of places via the reservation link only until Friday, March 17, 2023 at 5pm.
Award ceremony: solo - duo
Each competitor must have an avalanche transceiver device, a shovel, a probe, a space blanket and a helmet (climbing helmet authorised). Competitors must have an FFME or CAF licence or a medical certificate less than 3 months old, as well as insurance.
Discovery course - Short course of 4km (min. age 13 yrs, 450m elevation gain), starting from Les Coches (1440 m d’altitude), climbing to the highest point at Plan Bois (1820 m altitude) and coming back down on Mont-Blanc run (blue run) to Les Coches. Price: 18€/pax No medical certificate required, but helmet obligatory and participants must have insurance.
Long course (min. age 16 yrs) on a 6,300km course (1000 m elev. gain) starting from Les Coches (altitude 1440 m), climbing to the highest point (altitude 2340 m) and coming back down partly off piste to Les Coches. (Time barrier at Plan Bois at 11am). Please note: technical sections on the course. You should know how to do kick turns. Price: 18€/pax No medical certificate required, but helmet obligatory and participants must have insurance.
Rando Challenge La Plagne 2023: The Les Diables Bleus race is the 4rd of 4 events grouped under the new Rando Challenge organised by La Plagne, with prizes for the 3 best men and women who have competed in the 3 races: - Montée des Raveillus (Champagny en Vanoise) on 11/03/2023 - La Course des Dahus (Montalbert) on 28/01/2028 - Les Diables Bleus (Montchavin-Les Coches) on 18/03/2023 - Triface (Plagne Centre) on 25/03/2023.
