The river Rhue starts in the Sancy mountains, then joins the “petite Rhue” (also called “Rhue de Cheylade”) in Coindre. It flows through splendid gorges, with forest all around, before joining the river Dordogne near Bort-les-Orgues and after meeting several tributaries: Tarentaine, Gabacut, Taurons, Soulou... A lot of works and dams have been installed along this river in order to produce electricity... It is inhabited by otters, white-clawed crayfish and trouts. Natura 2000 site. To drive through the gorge, drive towards Condat from Champs-sur-Tarentaine. To walk through the gorge, 1 hiking trail (PR 14 : Au coin de la Rhue).
