Jean Couty - Au fil de l'eau (By the water’s edge)
Lyon ème

Based on the theme of water, the museum is putting on a retrospective featuring a selection of the artist’s works from the early 1930s to the end of his life in 1991.
You are invited on a journey to rivers, seas and oceans, from Brittany to the Indian Ocean, via the Mediterranean, a timeless sea that has shaped generations of artists since Antiquity.
Like Joseph Vernet, who, on request from Louis XV of France, went on a tour of the kingdom to paint views of its ports during the second half of the eighteenth century, Jean Couty also depicted France’s ports in his works (Saint-Malo, Concarneau, La Rochelle…), as well as foreign seas and waterfront cities (the Serenissima Venice, Santorini, Taormina…)
From 04/05/2022 to 14/05/2023 between 11 am and 6 pm except on November 1st.
