From the place du Château [museum of the French Revolution], take the rue du Général-de-Gaulle, then turn right under the Vault (parking possible on the left). Follow the D524 to the crosswalk of the bridge of Allas. Cross the bridge and arrive at a fork in the road. Continue on a small gravel road that enters the forest of Vizille. Reach the place called Derrière-les-Murs. Turn left on a path that rises steeply and gradually becomes a trail. At 650 meters, it joins an almost flat track; take it on the left until you reach the lookout [panorama; picnic area]. Continue on the wide downhill trail to Les Barontes. Turn left on the GR®738 Haute Traversée de Belledonne to reach the bridge of Allas. Cross the bridge again and come back to the starting point.
