"Chemins de fabriques" : hidden secrets of the "Haute Bourbre"

“Factory tracks” is the way we chose to make you discover the "Haute Bourbre" valley
The word “factories” evokes at first the sites, factories and workshops where can be discovered the remains of "the old times". But it is more a reference to an era “the fabrics period”, at the end of the 19th century. Back at the time, when a brand new railway links Lyon to Grenoble, the villages witness the upcoming of business owners building here and there new factories. At the same time , the countryside welcomes brand new and moderns city halls and schools, religious crosses appears at every crossroads, but also bars in every village. Buisiness owners build huge houses surrounded by nice green areas, meanwhile women, discover the work in factories.
You are invited to ride from a village to another : Virieu, Panissage, Chassignieu, Saint-Ondras, Chélieu and Blandin, up until the furthest valley, to Valencogne.
You will discover a former glacial valley used to be filled with ponds, borded on either sides with farmed plateau. These offer nice and easy walks in the heart of nature.
