The Clear Lake
Lanslebourg-Mont-Cenis
On the border between France and Italy, the Mont-Cenis plateau opens up. A place of passage full of history where forts were built in the past to defend the border.
The fort of Ronce, with its astonishing circular architecture, is a two-storey sentinel of fire that offers a truly breathtaking view of Mont-Cenis, its turquoise lake and the surrounding peaks: a 100% Instagrammable spot!
The path slopes gently down to the translucent Lac Clair, fed by the melting of the overhanging glaciers.
It is a haven of peace that is only disturbed by the tinkling of clarines and the whistling of the facetious marmots.
In June, the mountain pastures are coloured with violets and other bluish bellflowers which only grow up there, an exceptional visual and odorous spectacle.
